Vela is being built in South Africa by a founder-led team. Our approach is grounded in careful development, honest conversations, and learning directly from the people managing rental property every day.
Why Vela
Vela means “the sails” in Latin and is the name of a constellation in the southern sky. For generations, sailors have looked to the stars to find their way.
We chose the name because rental property works best when everyone can see where they are going. Vela brings landlords, property teams, and tenants into one connected experience, so they can stay aligned, take the next step, and move forward with confidence.
Where it started
The first conversations behind Vela began in November 2025. By late December, Aidan and Dylan had started turning the idea into a product.
In March 2026, they formalised their long-term commitment to building Vela together, and the work has kept moving forward ever since.

Aidan focuses on Vela's product direction and customer experience. His work spans product management, testing, customer discovery, and ongoing coordination and communication with the people who use and support the platform.
Co-founder, Engineering & Technology
Focused on building secure, reliable technology that makes complexity feel simple.
Dylan focuses on Vela's engineering and technology, including implementation, infrastructure, code quality, security, performance, and reliability as the platform develops.
Our roadmap
November 2025
Aidan and Dylan began exploring what a rental management platform could look like, grounded in direct industry experience.
March 2026
Vela was formally established under its name, with clear direction and a committed founding team.
August 2026
Initial engagement with prospective landlords confirmed genuine market demand for the solution in development.
September 2026
Vela launched to a limited pilot user base. Feedback gathered during this period continues to inform product priorities and refinements.
